Small Business Saturday

For ten years, American Express has partnered with local businesses and communities across the United States to promote small local shopping. Launching in 2010, American Express’ goal was to encourage more holiday shopping in local neighborhoods after the Thanksgiving holiday. They believe small businesses are the core of every successful neighborhood. The first Small Business Saturday was so much of a success that local officials across the United States took notice, and moved forward to promote the day. In 2011, the Senate passed a bill in support of Small Business Saturday. Reading Fact; this day is well recognized even the president gives a shout out to show his support. By 2013, there were more than 1,400 Neighborhood Champions signed up to help rally and support local communities with Small Business Saturday. That number continues to grow to this day! New studies show that last year in 2018, more than 7,500 Neighborhood Champions signed up to help rally for this special day. Another study performed by American Express shows the spending has now reached an estimate of $103 billion dollars. Yes, you read that correctly, $103 billion dollars! Now ten years later, Small Business Saturday continues to progress into an annual holiday shopping tradition just like Black Friday.
